The Programme

The International Master’s Programme in Eurosud Southern European Studies (EUROSUD) offers a unique opportunity to obtain, over the course of two years, a Master’s degree with a multiple-degree qualification.

The programme involves several universities within the framework of the CIVIS – European Civic University Alliance:

  • Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain (UAM)
  • Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium (ULB)
  • Aix-Marseille Université, France (AMU)
  • National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (NKUA)
  • Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Political Sciences, Italy (SUR)

Programme Structure

Sapienza University of Rome participates in Track 2.The multiple Master’s degree is linked to the Master’s degree programme in International Relations and Supranational Institutions (LM-52, Track 2). Organisation of the Programme

  • Application to the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) (a total of 30 places, shared among the participating universities)
  • Enrolment at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid
  • First academic year at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (60 ECTS)
  • Second academic year:
    • first semester at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (30 ECTS)
    • second semester at Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Political Sciences (33 ECTS)
  • Upon completion of the two-year programme, students will be awarded a Multiple Degree comprising: Master in Democracy and Government (UAM); Master in European Studies (ULB); and Laurea Magistrale in International Relations and Supranational Institutions (Sapienza University of Rome).

When students arrive at Sapienza University of Rome for the final semester of their programme, they are required to take two examinations and to discuss their Master’s thesis.

Graduation Application Checklist (Sapienza University of Rome)

Before submitting the online graduation application via Infostud, students must:

  • Identify a thesis supervisor and thesis topic
  • Obtain the supervisor’s signature on the thesis assignment form
  • Choose the graduation session (July or October)
  • Indicate the type of thesis (conventional thesis)

During the online application, students must upload the following mandatory documents:

  • Signed thesis assignment form (scanned copy)
  • Signed AlmaLaurea receipt (AlmaLaurea registration)
  • Declaration of exams taken but not yet recorded in Infostud (if applicable)
  • Declaration of exams still to be taken (if applicable)
  • Certificates for internships, traineeships, seminars, civil service or volunteering, if not previously submitted and recognised

After submission, the graduation application must be approved by the thesis supervisor and then by the Student Administration Office.
